The sherwani is incomplete without a shawl or stole. The type of stole you carry with your sherwani can make or break the look. Though a shawl is imperative when wearing a sherwani, you can also team one up with your kurta-pajama, dhoti-kurta and even galabandh! A shawl with a woven design or embellished border or thread work etc adds character to the look.

Choose your sherwani shawl wisely! If you have opted for an unembellished or minimally embellished sherwani, go for a jamewar shawl or one that is fully embroidered. With a sherwani in matte texture go for a shawl with thread work instead of zariand sequin detailing. An embellished sherwani calls for a plain shawl. But we suggest one with an ornate border too! In summer weddings go for shawls and stoles in fabrics like raw silk, silk-cotton, organza, chiffon etc while a winter wedding demands a Kashmiri shawl that showcases intricate Kashmiri thread work, woven kani work or crewel work. Though most sherwani sets come with their own stole or shawl, not all of them have a classy and rich look. Investing in a shawl separately allows you to enhance your wedding day look. First, you can go for a contrast look by choosing a shawl in contrast to the color of your sherwani. You can choose a shawl that co-ordinates your outfit with that of your bride.
